    That may be true that tenting kills them all BUT you can never really get rid of them in the future…suppose they come back? Are you going to tent every single time you see termites? No….it’s expensive to tent plus not safe for pets or humans..that’s why I prefer to spot treat plus it’s cost effective if you do it yourself and use products like Boracare for the attic or SC Taurus for exterior or Thermidorian for spot foaming…. Thanks

    Tenting does not work either because the gas never kills all the termites because it cannot get into the wood that is painted and behind painted walls and stucco. You would have to drill holes in the walls between every wall stud and fire block.

    I agree with many of the critics in this forum. Fumigation offers no plan for dealing with re-infestation which could happen again the following year. Fumigation only removes existing infestation but offers no preventative treatment. Furthermore, the insurance guarantees for which you pay hundreds of dollars per year against further infestation will only cover spot treatment - not another tenting scenario. Apparently some of the spot treatments actually leave residues of chemical shields that offers some resistance to re-infestation.

    • @RobertManningRMvideos
      @RobertManningRMvideos 3 года назад

      Yeah? You can also have reinfestation with spot treating too. Your always at risk of re-entry no matter what which is also a good case to to have a monthly or quarterly service on your home. Swarmers are not immune to Bifen

    Its what you perfer, fumigation is effective depends on the amount of damage/infestation u have. If you have tile roof, PVs, and roof drains be aware. What he says is funny that a spot treater needs to find a live colony first, and fumigation can take care of a colony you cant see? So if you cant see it, how do you know its live? Dont you do an inspection? with spot treatments, they have boroscopes, Co2 testers, infrared, etc to confirm, not guess if there is live activity. Fumigation relies on you getting reinfested, spot treats applies preventatives, and yearly inspections so don't have go through the hassle of bagging, finding a place to stay, house pets, or worry if anything gets damage. You can tell its pro fumigation, you should point the pros and cons of both instead of being biased. Like I said fumigation is effective if the fumigant is applied correctly and the same goes for spot treatment.

    • @mariagarcia-eggly9833
      @mariagarcia-eggly9833 4 года назад

      Yes, the point is fumigation will kill all, but the next day a new colony could move in. So really in states where termites are a problem, you need yearly preventative if not more often maintenance. My house hasn't been treated in 20 years and I was told I could do local treatments, and then have follow up plan. I think for peace of mind, tenting with a follow up plan is best. I mean like Ripley and Cpl Hicks say, "It's the only way to be sure," ruclips.net/video/nnHmUk_J6xQ/видео.html

    • @arrrryyy
      @arrrryyy 4 года назад

      yes , just walking on roof when putting tent does more damage in 90% of cases than drywood termite will do next 100 years. In most cases though.

    • @Mark_conor
      @Mark_conor 3 года назад

      Yo act like they are purposely trying to damage your roof tiles if your roof is old then yes damage can happen I would much rather replace a couple roof tiles myself than spend thousands on wood repairs which will require roof removal anyways so your point has no logic. And you can also fumigate kill everything and then spray wood or injection or bait stations the point of fumigation I think is to kill everything and start fresh and have yearly inspections and be vigilant 🤷🏽‍♂️

    • @trugambit7484
      @trugambit7484 3 года назад

      It’s cuz it’s the best. Spot treatments only get the spots it’s treating. If tomorrow the there is another colony in another spot we’ll it’s another treatment. Fumigation kills all no residue and eco friendly. Vikane is destroyed by UV after aeration. Also if you fumigate in California the company has to guarantee that work for at least 2 years. Spot treatments aren’t 100 % vikane KILLS ANY PEST; rats terminates ants etc

  • @jimaugust4114
    @jimaugust4114 7 лет назад

    If the gas leaves no residue, then is has no prevenitive effect, correct?

    • @TheShonuff888
      @TheShonuff888 7 лет назад

      Lol yeah so the termites can reinfest the area, then you gotta spend another grand to tent again lol, then what does the fumigation company have to do? "Spot Treat"

    • @Manateepestcontrol
      @Manateepestcontrol 7 лет назад

      Hi Jim. Vikane does not have the capability of leaving a surface residue, therefore it cannot be used as a preventative. Unfortunately, homeowners cannot prevent drywood termites. Even if you chemically treat all the wood used to build the home, the termites will eventually find a something to eat in the house. In our area of Florida it's pretty common to find drywood termites in kitchen cabinets, furniture, doors, and baseboards. Spot treatment is only a partial treatment that is used to treat areas that can be detected by the naked eye. Spot treatment will definitely buy you time but will never fully eradicate the termites. Tent fumigation will treat every single piece of wood in the home and will end the problem immediately.

    • @John-vb1fk

      Spot treat can be good for at least 3 months.

    so if it doesn't leave any residuals that means termites can come right back after tenting the house there's no protection

    • @thegreatonesays
      @thegreatonesays 7 лет назад

      Jose Velasquez that is correct, but most companies provide retreatment warranties usually up to 5 years.

    • @genecloud8130
      @genecloud8130 7 лет назад

      Yes. Drywood termites can theoretically come back the next day but this is unlikely. At the end of the day, fumigation is the only option a home owner has for eradicating drywood termites from a structure. All other procedures only treat part of the home minimizing the colony but not completely eradicating.

    • @takezoaudio
      @takezoaudio 7 лет назад

      that's correct. any termite swarms that occurs during spring to fall can and will introduce new colonies and in four to five years you should fumigate again. problems can be exacerbated if your neighbors home is also infested and they don't tent when you do allowing swarms to come in contact with your home. fumigating every four to five years is highly recommended. most pest control companies will provide spot treatments, but not re-fumigation, up to five years.

    • @Manateepestcontrol
      @Manateepestcontrol 7 лет назад

      Thanks for sharing. We will actually re-fumigate at no cost during the first year of warranty. If the warranty fee is paid every year the first year, we will re-fumigate for free also. We do not spot treat for drywood termites. Tenting is the only way to go.

    • @John-vb1fk

      Eggs keep hatching and termites keep swarming. Tenting is expensive

  • @marijd5502

    Tents don't kill eggs though.

    • @Manateepestcontrol
      @Manateepestcontrol 8 лет назад

      Marie you correct! Tenting sometimes does not penetrate the drywood termite eggs under normal fumigation procedures. However, newly hatched drywood termites cannot survive without the adults and the adults cannot survive tenting. As you can see the two cancel themselves out of the picture. Tent fumigation remains the only effective procedure to eradicate all drywood termite colonies. Here is a white paper written by Dr. Rudolf H. Scheffrahn, the lead entomologist at the University of Florida. Please let me know if you have any quetions. Will the fumigation kill all termite eggs? Vikane is not an ovicide and therefore will not directly kill termite eggs. However, as the eggs hatch, the larvae rely on worker termites for survival and will quickly die in their absence.

    thanks for the video. just tent and get it over with. it's pricey but not as much as replacing so knows what. how long does it take before termites can do serious damage?

    • @Manateepestcontrol
      @Manateepestcontrol 8 лет назад

      If left alone, all termites can cause serious damage. Drywood termite colonies are smaller than the notorious subterranean termites, therefore damage tends to be less severe. Almost every home in our area of Florida has drywood termite damage but this is nothing to loose sleep over. The best solution is to tent the home immediately and keep a close eye out for fresh signs of new infestations. Thanks for sharing with us.
